OUR FOUNDATION
Compelled by his compassion, our founder Mr. Samuel Gyamfi Asiedu resigned
from a financial institution job, and proceeded to assist children he had identified in Larbie-Djan villages
and its environs, in the Central Region of Ghana in October 2015, he had observed that most of the children
working in farms and market places were engaged in child labor, and some too were neglected, he became more
and more disturbed by the sight of poor children being harmed by child labor, then he decided to build a
learning center to facilitate pre-school learning activities to give the children access to free quality
basic education using a holistic child development model introduced by Ms. Charity Asamoah Pokoo, who was a
teacher and a local pastor of the Methodist Church of Ghana.
PROJECTS
DALET SCHOOL PROJECT
Assisting with the needs of the children, Samuel used the support
services of experienced teachers, facilitators, and early-grade educationists from both the United
States of America and Ghana to enrich teaching-learning activities.
In the early days of the School, Maria Montessori’s educational approach was tested at the Center,
and based on its success the Center became known as the DALET Montessori Academy. As stakeholders’
requirements were accepted and satisfied, the Center was later named the DALET School Project in
line with the stated goals established by the community leaders and our team.
After the School’s first trial lessons were delivered, the challenges faced by the facilitators prompted the need to conduct a study to improve upon teaching-learning in the school, and as the team began to research, design, estimate, and plan out the project, members were motivated to volunteer more time to learn about the project than it was known when the vision was first shared with them. While implementing the recommendations of the study, free breakfast and lunch were served to 52 hungry and orphaned children in the school, and thanks to the compassionate support of our American partners–including Rollin Shultz and Elder Chris Simon, all students who came to school starving were fed twice every school day—ensuring the children were nourished and had a sound mind to study, receive instructions, guidance, and the door of hope was open for them.

We open doors for children to protect them to be free from harm, provide their basic needs, including food, shelter, health care, clothing, skills training, prayer, education and, assist children to participate in decisions that affect them
HOW WE DERIVED OUR NAME
THE MEANING BEHIND OUR NAME
DALET is an acronym for Development Alliance for Literacy Education
and Training (DALET). Samuel and his team believed that the acronym ‘DALET’ elicits a belief in the
promise of the Hebrew alphabet DALET or the word DELET (door) that in the
Talmudic tractate of
Barachot, it is stated that: “Whoever gives alms (tzedakah) to the poor, the letter DALET will be
open for them in the world to come”. DALET is associated with the concept of giving, helping the
poor, and providing assistance to the needy.
And that the wise King Solomon wrote about the reward from the LORD that all kind-hearted people would receive, saying: "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done

OUR BELIEF
We believe that our generosity, service, and work to achieve a free
society through accessible schools and quality education for every child worldwide; an increased
healthy population, where opportunities for entrepreneurship and wealth creation abound is a
possibility.
With the support and collaboration of the Larbie chief and elders of the village, our belief gave
birth to a community-based non-government organization for humanitarian services on April 20, 2016
in Ghana and as operations expanded in 2017, DALET received a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in Seattle,
Washington State, United States of America.
DALET began building collaboration and partnership with Human Harmony Nepal in January 2021. We are
a Global South-rooted organization advocating for systems change for improvement in the social
impact investment for women and children.
